Scars Revealed
Written By SkyHawk

I have traveled a very long ways from home. I've climbed mountains, crossed deserts, and even voyaged across the great seas. I've fought all forms of evil of this land and protected those I care for. Yet, I know I have so much more to learn from this world and from its people. The one I follow is a perfect example. His heart is so open and free that he is like any other Mistican I have ever met. I admire his good will and his ability to see good in those who have been touched and twisted by the forces of evil. In some sense I'm even jealous of such qualities. I wish my own heart was open and free as his, but mine is quite the opposite. It has grown cold and I even fear one day I will give up on my journey to find that one spark that will lift my heart.

Standing watch in the middle of the night over the expedition is a daily job I have taken as my own. As a wild Braenon from the grassy plains of Mistica I'm well equipped to protect the only two friends I have. They are by no means weak, but they are also not capable to battle. Such kind and caring people should never have to witness the horrors of battle at least not like I have. I would gladly taint myself then allow them to be contaminated by the forces of evil. Of course I've grown use to it. As a lower standing male Braenon I was constantly picked on in my Bouquet. I had no social standing and thus I had no place really in the group. I could never escape my fate from them though for I was a scared and foolish pup.

Everyday and every night I was beaten by the Alpha male so I knew my place and each time I did nothing to prevent it. I had given up. At least I had until that one faithful day that I was saved by the one I follow. I had been hurt badly in battle by two Belragoth and I was lucky enough to be saved by these Misticans. I had come to know them as I recovered in their camp over time. They were two explorers that had come to study my Bouquet along with my species. The one that I follow had written many notes as he studied and it was he that I admired the most. I had broken the taboo and spoke to him through telepathy to further my suspicious that he was a good person. Our kind prefers to speak with our own kind, but I did not care for there rules any longer. I had finally come to know what my path was. It was to follow these explorers and discover the world myself.

Upon my recovery I challenged the Alpha for my freedom. I fought hard and in the end I had won, but lost nearly all my sight in my right eye. My healing magic was unable to repair the injury, but I do not mind for it's a reminder of what it cost me to fight for my freedom and win. I hold no regrets and I carry it with pride.

After I left my home I traveled to many places and it's only now that I see that maybe my heart hasn't become cold over time, but quite the opposite. My loyalty for my friends is what brings the fire to my chest. As I sit on the warm rocks of the canyons I realize that this is where I finally belong. I would never leave their sides and they will never leave mine. With the coming dawn I could finally see the bones of the past scattered across the canyon floor while my companions begin to wake from their tired dreams. I had never had an identify until I had met these two and now I even have a name.

I am Scar, wild Braenon of the grassy plains of Mistica, friend and protector to Dr. Jones and Professor Barnaby. Watch out Mistica for we will cross paths again one day.
