Aves pengoopius +|
Common Names: Pengoo
Plural: Pengoos

Habitat: Wild Pengoos are very rarely, with the exception of the somewhat eccentric Yellow Pengoos, seen living anywhere outside of Blizzard’s Realm. Somehow a large population of Yellow Pengoos have managed to migrate south to the warm, relaxing Bamboo Beach Resort, and seem to be none worse the wear for it. However, Yellow Pengoos can also still be found around their brethren in the freezing north.

Diet: Fish, fish, and more fish. Even if they had access to other sources of food, they most likely wouldn’t be bothered. On rare occasions, they’ve been known to try sneakily to sell dyed snow as snow cones, but they never partake in the fake treat themselves.

Behaviour: A rather cheery group of misticpals, these stout little birds spend most of their time sledding through the snow and diving down through the freezing watery depths. Despite being close to the bottom of the Blizzard Realm food chain, Pengoos enjoy the thrill of mocking Risylkii and Inarbus, jumping or swimming right in front of their jaws and shooting off with the predators in close pursuit. Pengoos also have a tendency to be pranksters. They like to hang out around the Ice Fishing hole and have been known to steal from unlucky fishermen who do not keep a close eye on their buckets. Surprisingly, they are also very good at making snowballs even with their flippers, and many a hapless tourist to the Realm has been caught by a snowball cascade by some joking Pengoos.

Pals: Pengoos can be a little tricky to have as a companion. For one, unless you can get a Yellow Pengoo, the others will need to have a very cold environment. Owning a Pengoo is best kept to pets who want cold environments anyway, or to those who live in Blizzard’s Realm. Another thing that all Pengoos need is plenty of water. Otherwise they will get bored, and their pranks will become more frequent and more malicious than fun. However, if you can meet their needs, Pengoos can be fun to have around, particularly for a pet that has aspirations to be a comedian, as their pranks will keep the pet and the Pengoo entertained.

Variants: Pengoos come in all colours of the rainbow and more! Most of their behaviours are similar, with the exception of the aforementioned beach-loving Yellow Pengoo. As of yet, they have not been found as any of Mistica’s rarer variants such as Daydream or Overgrowth, and it’s uncertain how those variations would affect Pengoo behaviour if they could exist.
