Children Find Odd "Prize" in Ostara Eggs
Written By Fallout

Children participating in an annual Ostara egg hunt got quite a surprise last week when some of the Ostara eggs they found had an unexpected treat inside. The Ostara egg hunt was hosted by the local Sprite village in honor of Pandoria's birthday and has been a tradition enjoyed by children and adults children the world over.

The young participants were tasked with finding ordinary plastic eggs that contained small gifts of candy and pocket change. While the other children were running around screaming like loonies and fighting over who saw the egg hidden in the tree roots first, a small group of young Sprites found what they thought was a jackpot of colorful Ostara eggs and placed them in their baskets along with the other eggs they had found. It wasn't until hours later when their parents inspected their baskets that they noticed something odd about these “plastic” eggs.

“They were heavier than a plastic egg,” one mom explained. “They also didn't have a seam to crack them open with like a plastic egg. At first we thought they were hardboiled chicken eggs that had been hidden with the plastic ones, but then one of them started moving.”

The eggs soon hatched into a small fleet of marshmallow bunnies, delighting many squealing children who quickly scooped them up and started playing with them, and horrifying the many surprised parents who quickly had to confiscate them from their children before the fluffy, fragile bunnies were injured.

As it turned out, the nest that they had come across actually belonged to the rare Ostara bunny, a bunny that is only seen around Ostara season when they come out to lay their eggs in the fresh spring grass. The bunnies can be made of almost any sweet ranging from chocolate to marshmallow and some have a cream or caramel filling.

None of the baby bunnies were harmed in the incident and they were quickly reunited with their mother, who was waiting patiently at the nest for the adults to return them. She even rewarded each of the children involved with a bejeweled Ostara egg, a rare and highly sought after egg hidden by Ostara bunnies for the lucky few who can find them.
