at least, physically. never again to be seen or felt or touched or loved or--
he broke into tears. they were long past due, he felt. sure, she had removed--erased--herself. that was true. as such, sure, he hadn't remembered her until now.

his new companion stared at him expectantly. she could feel it too, the memory of her literally embedded in that door. tears also leaked from her watery eyes, though she couldn't explain why.
