As she rested in a deep, earthen sleep, a small party of adventurous explorers scaled along the rocky outcroppings nearby. Made from the very terrain they walked upon, it came as no surprise the slumbering, mountainous Comeil would go unnoticed. Footsteps falling upon her hide, Annapurna stirred in her sleep. Thinking the tremors beneath their feet were the signs of a rockslide, the intruding party rose the alarm and quickly shouted for one another to descend. Awoken from the commotion, the great Comeil struggled to stand and upright herself. It was only after the panicked voices abruptly vanished, replaced with chilling silence, did she finally gaze down and see the crushed remains of the hapless adventurers.
Stricken with shock, horror, and grief, Annapurna fled her valley sanctuary. The responsibility for the accident weighed heavily upon her, and she sought the ultimate isolation in the far northern reaches of the mountains. It is here she remains, her lush, green hide now dotted with freshly fallen snow. She no longer drifts into a deep, restful sleep, and remains awake and vigilant, haunted by a blameless disaster.
