Juneberry Winning Entry

Every member has a story of their own. This story begins the moment they press the button to register. The moment that button is pressed, and the moment that the human behind the screen begins to enter the information required, they become a part of an array of stories. Their life is reborn, as they carefully type the information needed to press submit.

I was looking for a new 'pet store' of sorts, to find a new virtual friend to play with. Of the many on the listing, the name of this site is what caught my attention.

From the moment I saw the name, my story began. I had lost control to my urge and clicked the link, which lead me to a very gentle home. With brown walls and green signs, the white doorway covered in information, I was enchanted by the earthly feel of the page. Each word kept me curious, as I began to press different buttons, seeking information to further my decision.

Choosing a site is like choosing a house, you see. You must take a careful look, as it is your future. You must give careful thought as you open each doorway of information, picking out each piece of the whole to decide if it fits your needs. As you might have guessed, the home I am in now did fit my needs, and so I signed the form to enter the community.

Of course, a home is not a home without a family, and what better family than a pet? The difference between a pet and your family is that you can choose them. But it can be very hard to choose a pet- after all, pets are all living creatures themselves, created by the gods of the world they belong to- whether that world is the internet or the world outside that, the fact remains the same.

Humans can be very picky creatures, however, and I myself fit that category as well. I spent a good amount of time looking at each species individually, let alone the many colors available. It made me think about how many different types of people there are in the world, as well as how many different animals there are- even plants.

This world is a world of magic. It has an earthly feel, but is full of so much variety it can actually leave you to think for a long while. But...Perhaps that is for the best. It is because of this that our stories on this world never end, after all.
