Kaida could hear whatever was there pause when he did, as if they were unable to sense where he was. Heart pounding, the Braenon glanced at his options before he went with the closet one, the deep pool. It would be quicker to dive into it, and he wasn’t confident in gliding over or climbing to attempt the others.

Launching himself into action, he swore he could hear the growling things dart after him, closing in quicker than anything he ever heard of. The water splashed beneath him and with a mighty leap, he vanished into the pool. With the sudden chill of the cold liquid jarring his senses, it caused him to briefly forget what was going on.

The little Braenon quickly snapped out of it and began to awkwardly swim deeper, using his wings as makeshift paddles. It was dark, with eerie white worms lighting the way. With all noise more or less muted, a sound caught his attention. Looking behind him as he began to round a turn, he witnessed two… two things dive into the water, yet when the water cleared, there was nothing there.

Still, Kaida was unable to shake the feeling that something had dived into the water after him. A ripple of light caught his attention and he almost froze. There was a silvery outline of something swimming towards him. It was difficult to see, yet with the worms’ light, he could see glimpses of teeth and sharp claws.

Nearly yelling in terror and almost losing his remaining air, he kicked off from the stone he had been resting against, zig zagging to both gain speed and to throw whatever it was off. Although it was helping move him along, there came another problem, he was beginning to feel the ache in his muscles and the strain of needing more air.

‘Go away, go away!’ he pleaded in his mind, heart clenching in fear as he wildly cast his blurred gaze around to find a pocket of air. Flooded tunnels like these usually had a few of them here and there right?... Right? Desperate, Kaida shot to the top of the tunnel, claws seeking something other than water. Twice, three time he found nothing, not the fourth time. Nearing a split in the tunnel, he only had a split second to see what lay ahead before he found a small air pocket, one that was large enough for quite a few deep breathes. Kaida drank it in greedily, hating the strange silence.

From what he saw, the left cave widened significantly but there were a few obstacles he had seen, rock spike, and he wasn’t sure, but possibly unstable as well? The right was smaller, yet maybe it meant those things couldn’t get through after him. Diving back down from the pocket, he had to make a split decision before those things caught up to him. Left or right?

I vote left - perhaps he can dislodge a couple of the spikes to get the attackers?
