Slushie Quest, Part 8
Written By Fallout

“Eat, Powderpuff! Eat!” Sebastian commanded, grabbing a handful of the quick sinking, low fat vanilla soft serve and shoveling it down his gullet.

Powderpuff obeyed the command, his tiny poof mouth widening and slurping up the delicious death that surrounded them. He and Sebastian continued to devour until they ate their way to the edge of the pit. Climbing out, his feathers sticky and his tummy hurting from too much ice cream, Sebastian collapsed onto the cold ground, Powderpuff tumbling out after him. The poof's fluff was covered in glops of melting ice cream, which he struggled to quickly eat or shake off.

“Are you okay, Powderpuff?” The poof squirmed on the ground as he was quickly overcome by a sudden brainfreeze. “Come on. We need to get moving.”

The tunnels were almost labyrinthine. Sebastian and Powderpuff made sure not to let themselves get distracted this time and were both looking every which way for pressure panels hidden in the stone floors.

“You know Powderpuff, all of this seems deceptively easy,” Sebastian said.

No sooner had he said that then the floor gave way under the little poof. Powderpuff quickly grabbed onto a dripping ice pop that was dangling from the ceiling with his teeth and clung to it for dear life. The ground crumbled down into a bed of popsicle sticks sharpened like spikes.

“I'm afraid I may have spoken too soon...” Sebastian sighed as he helped the frightened poof down.

The floors crumbled beneath their feet several times, only now that they knew what to expect, they tested the ground before standing on it completely, saving themselves from certain demise many a time.

“I certainly hope we're nearing the end of this madness,” Sebastian said.

“Squeak? Squeaky squeak!”

“What was that Powderpuff?” Sebastian asked. He looked up and squinted into the distance and saw the faint glow of a torchlight. Standing beneath the source of the light was a shadowy figure. “You're right...I think there is someone there.”

“Squeak?”

“I don't know...it certainly doesn't look like The Shadow,” Sebastian replied.

They both suspiciously crept closer. The closer they got the more they could make out the illuminated face of a cranky, old mandoran. The mandoran's massive, rocky body took up the entire entryway, blocking the traveling pair from entering.

“Password?” the mandoran asked in a raspy but still somewhat booming voice.

“Password?” Sebastian replied. “How am I supposed to know that?”

“If you ain't got the password, ya ain't gettin' through,” the mandoran responded in a huffy tone.

Sebastian sighed and looked to his companion, hoping he might have a clue as to what this password might be. “Can you at least give us a hint?” Sebastian pleaded with the mandoran.

“No. You shall not pass!” the mandoran replied. His stubby legs folded up neatly underneath his body as he laid down before them, content to stay there for another eternity if he had to.

“Okay...let's just try to guess then. Is it slushie?” Sebastian replied.

“It ain't 'slushie',” the mandoran shook his head.

“Is it frozen yogurt?” the emperon guessed.

“It ain't 'frozen yogurt', either.”

“Squeaky squeak?” Powderpuff tried.

“It certainly ain't 'squeaky squeak',” the mandoran replied gruffly.

Sebastian sighed and leaned against the wall. “Oh sprinkles...we'll never get through in time to stop The Shadow.”

“Okay. You can pass,” the mandoran replied. He stood up, his thick legs plodding along as he slowly moved from the entryway and stepped aside for them.

“Wait...that was it? The answer was 'sprinkles'?” Sebastian asked incredulously.

“Yep. That be it. Now get movin' before I decide to move back into place!” the cranky old mandoran snapped.

Sebastian and Powderpuff exchanged looks of glee and then promptly waltzed in, momentarily forgetting to look for anymore boobytraps as they reached their final destination on their journey. Little did they know that someone else was lurking from the shadows...

Have they found the magnificent Golden Slushie of legend or have they merely stumbled upon a room full of misery and disappointment? Tune in next time to find out!

...This is what I accidentally stared with. First sentence was like "lolwat." It sounds really cute. Gotta read the others.
