This Month in Mistica: December '14
Written By Fay

This Month in Mistica is a quick guide to everything that’s happened on site in the past month. Whether you’re new and want a better idea of what goes on here, an older user who’s returning, or simply too lazy to read the news, this article has all -- okay, most -- of the information you need!

December began with the release of the December Kohal and all the winter-themed Pandoria Boxes. The Advent Calendar opened, stocked with all sorts of Mistmas goodness, and MeriKlaus stocked the Ornament Outlet with many shiny things once again. The Vending Machine and Credit Shop got their usual monthly updates. Lastly, we celebrated the birthday of a wonderful writer, gemajgall, with a colorful new book!

MeriKlaus visited King Blithe the next day, commenting on how quiet Boreal had been so far. Of course, just then a commotion was heard in the dungeons!

A chamber where someone had been kept had been broken through, and a shadowy figure escaped King Blithe’s castle on the 3rd.

On the 4th a Hero Rat update was posted.

The 8th saw our new Secret Santa feature released. Later that day, Ken Kratork showed up with a special report on the Inferno Terrain: belragothes were on the move, and Volcan’s volcano had completely frozen over!

A day later the Ugly Sweater Contest began, Mistmas items began stocking in shops, and new ornaments were released.

On the 10th we found out who the shadow was: Frost! A new, icy face, though not nasty like Queen Boreal. MeriKlaus questioned Frost about the volcano and he denied doing it, so she concluded it had to have been Boreal.

The next day another Hero Rat update was posted.

The great effort to unfreeze the volcano began on the 12th. Everyone grabbed their pickaxes and hacked at the ice, with a little boost from Pandoria.

Two days later Aurelius showed up to see Volcan’s volcano thawed. Frost, hearing him talking about Boreal, was intrigued by the name and flew off.

Aibrean released more books for reading on the 15th.

On thw 18th Aurelius speculated that, with the volcano unfrozen, Mistmas might be quiet. But then he and MeriKlaus noticed some mean-spirited behavior among normally cheery Misticans, and they began to worry.

Two days later Aurelius and MeriKlaus realized that the star ornament MeriKlaus had given Boreal was being corrupted and used to fuel the queen’s black magic. Misticans were acting downright horrid to each other. Boreal had cursed reflections to bring out the worst in everyone, piercing them with dark glass shards they couldn’t even really see. Thus began a site wide scavenger hunt to help several shopkeepers.

As shards were gathered and pieced together, MeriKlaus cleansed them to create bright mirrors that reflected people’s true goodness. Boreal’s magic began to fade on the 20th.

On Mistmas Eve, Boreal lost control. Her mirror’s shards returned, and then it shattered, piercing her. Frost saw what happened and raced off to find help.

Mistmas Day dawned and MeriKlaus found herself in Queen Boreal’s castle, healing her greatest enemy. Boreal demanded they all get out, and true to form, Frost started a snowball fight to lift spirits.

Aurelius departed a happy Mistica on the 30th as MeriKlaus wondered what would happen to Boreal. She had once again been thwarted, but Frost had seemed oddly attached to her…
