Hey everyone! Have a life lesson you want to share with the community? Send me your lessons and I will transpose them into a fable! This week I present to you ideas brought up by our very own KamiKitty and Fallout!

The Belragoth and the Tarinooki

There was once a young Belragoth that loved to paint more than anything. He would spend hours and hours creating wonderful works. Most of his classmates liked his art, too. A great painter came to the school and looked upon the art work of many children. When the Tarinooki got to the Belragoth’s piece she smiled, but began to criticize mistakes openly. The Belragoth had never before heard negative comments about his work, and took offense. The Belragoth was too proud to listen to the Tarinooki and ignored her advice.

An art competition began that included schools from all over the world and the young Belragoth was accepted to take the challenge. Using his best brushes and best techniques, he created the best work he had ever painted.

After everyone was finished with their paintings, the judges stepped forward and critiqued the paintings one by one. The Belragoth then saw who the judges were: a Gurahdi, a Gourix, and the Tarinooki. The Tarinooki looked over the Belragoth’s work with a critical eye, and frowned as she walked away. The score cards went up shortly after the works were critiqued. The Belragoth lost the competition, and when he saw his marks, he understood why he had lost. Written on his score card was the Tarinooki’s handwriting:

“Don’t be too proud to accept criticism. Practice what you learn and keep getting better.”

Clayton and the Greedy Skillow

A greedy Skillow once flew from treat shop to treat shop, eating all that came his way. Soon he became dissatisfied with the delicacies of the ordinary candy stores. He soon came across a small treat shop tucked away in the back of Banshee Swamp. Feeling rather peckish, he went inside.

A mangy looking Haruba stood at the counter, clearly making some kind of lollipop. The Skillow, though thrown off by the dingy setting and smell of the shop, soon could not resist the urge to eat a piece of candy. The shopkeeper, noticing the glint in the Skillow’s eyes, smiled and took out a freshly cooled pop.

“Welcome to Spooky Creations. I’m Clayton. Are you hungry? We have food that only… special pallets can identify with.” The keep grinned at the Skillow, showing pointy fangs.

“Why I would just love to, if you have one to give.” The Skillow smiled back.

Clayton the Haruba handed over the pop. Without a second look the skillow popped the lollipop into his mouth and began to chew. Soon the face of the greedy Skillow dropped from content to disgust. He opened his beak only to have it slam back shut. He had been slimed! It is well that the greedy Skillow remember:

“If Clayton asks you if you are hungry, always tell him you are full.”
