This Month in Mistica: August '12
Written By Caustic

This Month in Mistica is a quick guide to everything that’s happened on site in the past month. Whether you’re new and want a better idea of what goes on here, an older user who’s returning, or simply too lazy to read the news, this article has all -- okay, most -- of the information you need!

August started off green with the release of the lovely peridot Kohal! Queen Boreal wasn’t too happy with such a colorful development and cast out many of the pets, where they wandered, looking for new homes.

The 2nd saw an array of new and old items in the Vending Machine, and a late birthday celebration for Whitefoxfire! The gorgeous Daydream Kyts was released to honor the occasion.

Winners for the profile contests were announced on the 3rd. Congratulations to everyone, and a big thank you to all who voted! On the same day, permanent Spotlight contests for profiles were added and accessible from the Games area.

Of course, we were still in the middle of a war, and the next day the kirui were gearing up for a fight! Sprites and imps charged in with specialized weapons and the real war had started!

On the 5th a reminder for our 4th Year Pinatas was posted, as well as a call for new artists.

All the commotion in Darkwood Hollow seemed to have stirred up a new pet; the 6th saw the release of the Overgrowth Kratork.

A ton of new pieces for member’s Art Galleries were released on the 7th, as well as a new collection medal.

Some news came from the battlefield the next day, as we found that the sprites were in the lead, but not by much.

Achryli began stocking some new art pieces from our most recent winners on the 9th, and the Giveaway featured a bright torch to commemorate the Olympics!

King Mephitic was reveling in his imps’ quick catch-up to the sprites just two days later, and was in quite a good mood. Of course, this didn’t bode well for the sprites, and so the last day of battle was a tense one!

And finally, on the 13th, the war finally ended! Couriers from the front lines ran to tell their masters the outcome, that the nightmare kirui had fallen and the sprites were victorious! Dr. Erlenmeyer was rescued and in her gratitude, set up a prize shop for all the fighters the next day.

With things quieting down, new contests were posted on the 16th. Remember to get your entries, and then votes, in!

On the 17th we got an awesome new Flash game, Egg Defender! We also welcomed a bunch of new artists to our team.

Some old Vending items appeared alongside the new ones on the 18th, and a warning to spend plot points was posted.

Lovely (and frightening) new trophies for the imp and sprite war were awarded on the 20th, alongside a reminder to vote in the Spotlight contests.

Two days later four new avatars were released, and a manually added 10% bonus was awarded to members who purchased $25 or more! Hopefully you took advantage of that three-day window!

On the 23rd Arielle began stocking a new collection of inarbu plushies, and the Jumboyo Chief had some new sweets on his shelves.

Of course, the warm weather wasn’t over, and on the 24th the daydream and nightmare aetrai appeared!

A powerful wind swept the Itzair Ruins the next day, clearing it out a bit. Maybe you’ll uncover some special treasures in the sands?

On the 27th Arielle released a new line of super cuddly Vix plushies, and one…not so cuddly. But maybe the Imps among us would like the new Nightmare toy?

Keilly decided addiction was the best way to boost sales, so on the 28th we got five delicious, highly caffeinated beverages!

Over the 29th and 30th, Maury proved he did indeed know where his own shop was located and began stocking backpacks, pencil cases, pens, pencils, and markers for the new school year. I’m sure all of you are super excited and will use them only for educational purposes, and not to decorate anyone’s face.

August ended with a lovely Blue Moon, and that means a Jinx release! In addition, the Credit Shop had a 10% off sale on Pet Slot Coins to help Misticans bring home their new pet.

The long spring and summer war ended, with the side of good tired, but victorious. Luckily we won’t have to worry about the Imps and Sprites again until next year, but what will September bring?
