This Month in Mistica: April '12
Written By Caustic

This Month in Mistica is a quick guide to everything that’s happened on site in the past month. Whether you’re new and want a better idea of what goes on here, an older user who’s returning, or simply too lazy to read the news, this article has all -- okay, most -- of the information you need!

April started off with some tricks – I’m still begging for all my stuff back from that dang button – but there was a lot to keep us busy!

The 1st, of course, saw a whole mess of things going wrong. The forums were messed up, Chocosheep ran wild and fish flew everywhere! But we all got a treat for our troubles in the form of a lovely new pet, the Kirui! These mysterious creatures were the ones behind the weird footprints of last month, and can be obtained by buying a poppet from the Credit Shop. Also, a free Chocosheep to everyone!

On the 2nd, we got our usual Development Log. The site received quite a few updates!

We announced our Contest winners and new Library additions on the 3rd! Congratulations to Hornbuckle, Jesicat and Corrosion; Pastiche, SuperSheep and Silcoonsixx; Moonchild25, black_shadow and Pastiche! Don’t forget to visit the Library in Kingdom Village (click the tower on the right) to read the new Library books!

The next day, the lovely April Kohal was released.

On the 5th, the Vending Machine was updated and there was a mass Kohal release.

The Zodiac Kratork lit up Mistican skies on the 6th, and the last call was put out for writing applications.

Right on the heels of solving the mystery of the Kirui, another one pops up in the Banshee Swamp! Some students got truly terrifying footage of what they claimed were aliens, but no evidence existed to support their claims.

Ostara was coming up and on the 8th, the shopkeepers busted out all of their springtime favorites!

The 9th was another Development Log, along with the release of the Light Paintbrush in the Giveaway to honor Thomas Kinkade.

Finally, Ostara began! The 10th was an explosion of eggs popping up everywhere. Did you find and make them all?

The next day the Credit Shop began stocking the Pandoria Fashion Tag, should anyone want to imitate the goddess on her birthday. New Ostara delicacies were released by a few shopkeepers, and even the Pomme Tree celebrated with a new Flowering Pomme.

King Blithe showed a bit of a temper on the 12th, frustrated with eggs that kept disappearing! Rosebud took them off his paws and began selling the invisible eggs in her shop.

Friday the 13th arrived and Jinxes were released while the Delight Pixie chucked piñatas at the heads of unsuspecting Misticans. To combat the bad luck, the Credit Shop had a sale: Pet Slot Coins at 10% off!

Maybe the bad luck followed us into the next day, as Ken Kratork updated us on the odd situation in the Banshee Swamp. Trees were disappearing, and no one could figure out why! Aliens were beginning to sound a lot more plausible.

On the 15th we all said happy birthday to our wonderful Pandoria! Her points shop opened with all the old favorites, along with some new eggs and even the fashion tag in limited amounts. More hatchipals were released in Pandoria’s Chambers (her regular shop), the Credit Shop, and even Lighthouse Knicknacks!

We got another Development Log on the 16th, along with a new Credit Shop item to add more layers to our Legendary’s wardrobes.

Two days later Lance released a line of colorful new Capri and Cargo Pants.

More tree-based mystery was afoot on the 19th, as tree trunks turned up chewed on and scratched up. It looked like the aliens were eating them – how odd!

The 20th saw the release of the graceful Oceanic Skillow! The Toy Factory also began stocking a new Phelocan Kite, and Makoto’s Lighthouse Knicknacks received a shipment of pretty Fysch.

And finally, the next day we found out who those mysterious “aliens” were! Turns out that right on the heels of the Kirui, the new Ricket species showed up, sporting big, floppy ears and two pairs of eyes. The only thing scary about these fluffballs was maybe the Terror, who showed itself the same day, but the adorable Baby version balanced it out.

The Development Log posted on the 23rd contained several new updates. We also welcomed Fallout and TheBrokenFox to the writing team! Charitee decided to spice up that Monday with several new items now stocking in her shop.

Arielle jumped on the Kirui bandwagon a little late, releasing a set of plushies on the 26th.

The next day the Zodiac Vix was released!

April is over and it’s left us with new species, items, and fewer trees, but warmer weather is here and you know what that means…
