Ask the Moone: January Edition
Written By Valkyrie

There is a cold wind blowing; life on Mistica waits in anticipation of the coming events: the Cootie and Lovebug invasion, Znake Whacking and all that the staff may have up their sleeves.

Nestled among the silent trees you see the familiar cottage of the Moone. She greats you at the door and offers you a seat beside the fireplace to warm your cold feet. Your gaze drifts around the snug den and to your surprise you see boxes lined up along the walls. Even Moone's usually cluttered desk is naked beneath the light of her small lamp.

“What is all this?” you demand.

“The end, of course,” she replies, unruffled by your spluttering. “I've decided to travel.” Looking at the Moone, little differences come into focus. A battered pair of hiking boots on her feet, the new studs in her ears, the tattooed band on her shoulder that says ”The road less traveled” and the backpack slung over one shoulder, not to mention the walking stick in one slim hand. With an uncharacteristic, lopsided smile, she hands you the replies for the Chronicles, then she is gone, leaving the door open and the fire in the hearth to burn itself out.

SuperSheep's Doodle sent Moone this message:

Hey there, bleak, colorless frost Lady! I hope you're as smart as the rumors say... Anyways~ It's kind of ironic that I'm asking this to someone who looks like... you, but here goes!
Recently I've been feeling the urge to let out my artistic side in some apparently socially unacceptable ways. Thing is, I want to make all the boring-looking pets I find nice and colorful! Like those Arctics and Albinos! They are just so white and lifeless... But whenever I offer my help, they up and runaway! The ungrateful brutes! Please, help? What am I doing wrong here?
… And you wanna stop by may place later for a little touch up? You look pretty boring yourself.

Dear Doodle,
Umm, no! Step away from the palette and stop threatening me with that crayon, child! Obviously you have been infected with a Sprite fever, (poor thing). I suggest that SuperSheep enlist your...talents in the upcoming Sprite and Imp war. With a zealot…uh, enthusiast, such as yourself on their side the rainbow smitten Sprites stand to take a victory over the shadow loving Imps.

From Masterpiece's pet, Concept:

Dear Moone,
I've been a ghost for nearly 400 years now and I still haven't thought of a solution to this problem. I thought it might be time to get some help with this. As I just said, I am a ghost. Not particularly scary and not to bad looking if I do say so myself. But, the fact of the matter is I am a spirit that no one can see and if I randomly appear it's sure to cause some fright.
So, really I have two questions, how do I do so without scaring the Slimzies out of every pet in Mistica? I'd love some help!
Not so frighteningly yours
Concept~

Dear Concept,
I just so happen to have had the misfortune... *coughs* chance to encounter a gal that is bent on making over all that is without color. I'm certain that this aspiring artist can help you find a new dimension. However, if her attentions scare you, consider the advantages of your predicament: no waiting in line ever, the ability to run around totally unclothed! (Color me a little envious here) And have you thought about the fact you never have to do laundry? You could also stalk any object of your affection without fear of legal charges. Trust me here; many, many Mistican pets would just die (no pun intended) for the chance to follow the dashing Lance around all day with no fear of a restraining order!
Regards
Moone~

From KaidaMizuki's Kira:

Dear Moone,
My, what a lovely name you have. I always did love the Moon and Stars at Night... You are equally as beautiful in my opinion. I happen to know Kaida's last name, Mizuki, means Beautiful Moon in Japanese as well! It seems you have a bit in common.
So, moving on, I do have a little question for you.
Kaida and I have been traveling dimensions for years, now, and while that is generally a secret, what I'm about to tell you now is held at the utmost confidentiality.
Still, I trust you though.
The reason behind our travels is this: the great forces of Light and Darkness lost a fraction of their power many a millenia before, and accidentally, yet unknowingly, created Kaida's spirit. A perfect balance between the two. But this isn't just news to them... it's Kaida too.
She discovered a different array of abilities when her mother died. A different part of her spirit named Yozora awakened and rescued her. She can do many things... and one of them happens to be transforming into a creature both Human and Draconic, but neither at the same time. All who see her in this form usually fear her. Others show only hate. There are a few that even pity her, but none who will understand.
I think I only understand because I have become part of her somehow.
My question is... is there one person who exists in any of the worlds-- just ONE person -- who will be able to see past what others have deemed monstrous? Yes, the people of Mistic have been kind to us, but they, themselves, have never seen what she truly is. Only I have. Do you know of anyone who would dare to look from the outside in?
Sincerely Yours,
Kira

Dear Kira,
Pandoria Love A Duck! You've certainly presented me with an unusual query... *rolls up hypothetical sleeves* I believe that you may be underestimating the depth of understanding that Misticans possess. The ability to see the beauty in even a horrible visage is a gift that almost all here have and is often mind-boggling. In fact, there is light and darkness and a little monster in us all. Embrace your true self first, all the glorious contradictions everything that has gone into the creation of you, then reach out to others. We are a collective of our pain, triumphs, losses and gains. Being willing to reveal who you truly are takes monumental courage. For a Being of such astronomical experience the tiny/huge act of trust is a step that I implore you to take.
Regards
Moone~
P.S. If all else fails: stick broccoli in your ears and race around Itzair Ruins flapping your arms like a Tucky...it works for me.

From MassacRex3's pet Vanna, Moone received this message:

Dear Moone,
I see that you are wise in all your ways. Elegant, yet you still hold that freezing edge to your name. My question is one only the most wise can answer.
My heart is blazing, yet I feel the chill of loneliness. Being an Inferno Belgaroth my life has been a flaming mess for decades. I cause destruction and hold the most morbid thoughts in the most open parts of my mind.
What am I possibly missing to bring warmth and happiness into my life again?
Please help me find a way to fix who I am?
Sincerely Vanna

Dear Vanna,
Get a puppy covered in a flame-retardant suit.
Regards
Moone~

Akeela_Pyro had this to ask:

Dear Moone,
I am curious, what exactly happens to the items that given to Charitee? Do they disappear into oblivion, (which is what I feel happens to the food we give our pets, and toys that break), or are they actually given to the pets, like items to hold. After all, not always is it food or a toy that they are given, I myself have, on numerous occasions I believe, donated books or small weapons (ie: clump of dirt).
Sincerely,
CMM

Dear Akeela,
A most excellent question! I pondered this query long and hard. The truth is...I have no clue! Ask Charitee someday when she's feeling chatty; the answer should be quite entertaining. I did hear once though, that the penguins had been raiding the supply closet at the Pound! One can never be too careful of them!

black_shadow's Belgae said:

Dear Moone,
As you or may not be aware there is an atrocity known as a “Random Event” running around Mistica and every time my owner comes across one, he insists on clicking the accursed thing! This has led to my being female three different times -including now- And it takes a year before I am ever changed back. Is there a way I can stop my owner from perusing the Random Events?
Best Regards
Belgae~

Dear Belgae,
Short of breaking his mouse finger? Probably no. Maybe if you threatened him with black mail? It would have to be deliciously naughty though...let me know if you need help finding leverage?
Regards
Moone~

I was unable to include all the messages I received but I sincerely appreciate all of the interest that “Ask the Moone” has received. Best of luck to everyone!
