This Month in Mistica: March '11
Written By Caustic

This Month in Mistica is a quick guide to everything that’s happened on site in the past month. Whether you’re new and want a better idea of what goes on here, an older user who’s returning, or simply too lazy to read the news, this article has all - okay, most - of the information you need!

March means Revelry and Znakes, but the first day of the month felt more like Lanturnaucht as Jasper showed up with his circus for a whole week! I suppose he just couldn't stand not being the center of attention. MP bonus ratios were also updated, and now on the forums you can tell if someone is online by the dot under their username (green for online, grey for offline).

Two days later a few new pals were released, one specially for the CS: the Gloa. Potions that affect stats were also taken out of stock to allow for the transition to the new battle system (coming soon) to be smoother.

On the 5th we celebrated the Gourix! The usual layout, pinata and pinata items were released, along with two Gourix-themed toys and a book (items were in stock before new post but were announced on this day for the first time).

The 8th came and with it went Revelry as trophies and a new avatar were given out. Adoption fees were also updated to reflect stats, species and color/theme. A few smaller coding updates were also implemented (ability to hide/show certain trophies; new messages when toys break; ability to delete unwanted bank accounts).

The Gourix had their day and on the 10th, it was the Frodrinn's turn! A layout, pinata and pinata items were released along with a lovely new Frodrinn Forest Fan and a collection of Frodrinn plushies.

The next day the Frodrinn collection was released, and if you take a look at that news post you will also see a list of ways to earn MP.

After that, Community Advertising was introduced! You can now advertise your commissions, shop, etc to the world of Mistica! Please see the March 12, 2011 news post for more details.

The 14th saw the introduction of the Bird Collection, and also the release of a bunch of new feathered pals! Check out Darkwood Hollow; can you find the place these birds are flying about and catch one? They seem to have moved in on the Wishing Well, who then decided to find a better home where there was an actual well.

On the 15th we were all introduced to the new Inferno Jumboyo, Izabel and Panju! Keeping with the temperamental theme the Whacky Znake once again made an appearance to get everyone ready for Whacking Day.

The 16th was the birthday of one of our wonderful artists, Whisper! An adorable bird was released to the forest in her honor. Also on this day we highlighted the terrible disaster in Japan, giving ways to donate and offering a very beautiful Kitsune Mask to those who were able to do so. In the giveaway, a Cherry Blossom Fan was released.

Later that day...Whacking Day began! Hordes of Znakes slithered out of their underground homes and some of us got our whacking sticks ready while the rest cooed over how cute they were. A variety of amazing new Znakes were discovered and whacking sticks made an appearance in the giveaway.

Daedal got into the Whacking Day spirit by releasing several beautiful new talismans, jewelry and household items, one of which  -- a necklace -- found its way over to the Credit Shop.

Officer Coppa gave us a few brief, wise words on the 24th: keep your passwords hard to guess, change them frequently and don't have the same one for all websites and activities. To alleviate this rather somber message three new books were released, one of which can be found in the Credit Shop.

Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to the Znakes on the 25th as they all went safely back to their homes. M.A.W.Z -- Misticans Against Whacking Znakes -- beat their stick-happy rivals by a landslide!

But later that day we all got a wonderful surprise: real life Misticpets plushies were being auctioned! Bidding started for an adorable Braenon and Eledon and ended the following Sunday night. Maybe more will follow?

On the 28th we introduced a Champion item that lasts for a whole year! The Super Champion Pendant will give you Champion status -- with all the perks -- for twelve months, and the price is cheaper than buying 12 30-day Champion Dusts. The last of the winter-themed Pandoria Boxes made their appearance in the shop this day as well.

The 30th saw a variety of updates to our forums: a cleaner look, a forum tag system (so you can now alert someone if they're needed on a thread by typing @ followed by their username, and if you want to see what threads you've been tagged on just go to Forum Tags at the top of the forums), and the ability to show an item with the code { item-####} (the #### is the item's ID, which you can find in the item's URL or on the help site).

March was certainly hard on the arms, finishing up tossing all those Revelry items and then whacking all those Znakes! I hope you're not too tired for April...
