Infestation Tips and Tricks
Written By Chao

Contrary to what the game says, the first thing you should do in every game of Infestation is to destroy the block barriers by the end of the first or second round. These barriers are more annoying than helpful, as they get in the way of your shots. The next thing that you should do is take out two columns of enemies from either the right or left side of the enemy wave. Why do this and not just start attacking the enemies on the bottom row? You see, the 4 rows of enemies move from left to right and from right to left united as a single block. If you cut off a column of this block, it will take the wave of enemies a much longer time to move to the other side and down. By cutting off a part of the block, you are making the game easier on yourself! After you have cut enough of the side, you should now go and attack the bottom row of enemies until there are no more enemies left.

In general, you will want to avoid attacking the center of the wave, since it will be harder to dodge kisses there than to the left or right. Kisses won't always hurt you if you touch them either; Alex's hit box does not include most of the 'finger' part of his wings, thus you can easily let the kisses pass through this part and not lose a life. Speaking of lives, you are better off taking a hit from an enemies and having a clear shot at it than to let that enemy reach the bottom; if you let even one enemy reach the bottom, its Game Over, regardless of the number of lives that you have.

As you play through the game, you’ll notice new enemies appearing every couple of rounds or so. Here is a small list of known cootie and lovebug enemies in the game, listed in order of appearance, hit points, and points worth when destroyed:

LuvBird = 1 HP, 2 Points
Dwagorn = 2 HP, 4 Points
FebLuv = 3 HP, 6 Points
FlutaLuv = 4 HP, 8 Points
LuvBizzer = 5 HP, 10 Points
Loovster = 6 HP, 12 Points
Tudlei= 7 HP, 14 Points

As you go through waves of enemies, you are more likely to find rows of stronger enemies in the next round. Most of these types of enemies are pretty easy to take care of, with the exception of Loovsters and the LuvBizzers to a lesser extent. Loovsters are the largest enemies in the game, and because of this, they make entire wave larger, giving you less time to take care of them before they reach the bottom. An entire wave of them is hard, but not impossible, to take out, as long as you keep the previous tips in mind.

Now that you've read through this article, you are now ready to take on them cooties and lovebugs like never before! With these tips and tricks, I can guarantee that you can reach at least 2000 points each time you play!

Until next time, this is Chao, signing off.
